What are the factors that may cause API failures?

Latency with connectivity, specially after device is coming back from an extended sleep mode or a device reboot, may be caused by services that may have not reached their ready state. The device hardware may also play a role as the Smart Operational Panel boots up faster than the device’s controller.

To mitigate possible issues with connectivity it is recommended that the application retry the API multiple times even if the requests fails or exceptions are thrown.

Can an unauthorized application install on Smart Operational Panel (SOP) panel?

The SmartSDK platform limits application installs to Ricoh’s original signature. This means, that is only possible to install applications that are either created or signed by Ricoh. Or third-party applications that are signed by Ricoh after passing the corresponding verification tests that ensure no unauthorized actions take place in application.

Why my development signatures are not working with G2.5 devices?

The initial firmware release for G2.5 devices did not include support for Development signatures when installed via RXOP or WIM. This issue has been corrected in the latest versions of device’s firmware. Note that Demo and production signatures were not affected by this limitation.

The rule is same as Android SDK. We recommend that you use the same targetSdkVersion as long as possible to prevent a complete test which will be required even in case of changing targetSdkVersion.

An Error-71 can occur when you try to uninstall a pre-installed application (e.g. "Copy", "Scanner", "Fax", ... ).  On the G2.5, the Ricoh ScanGUI Service is also considered a native application, so attempting to uninstall this would result in an Error-71.
