Can an unauthorized application install on Smart Operational Panel (SOP) panel?
The SmartSDK platform limits application installs to Ricoh’s original signature. This means, that is only possible to install applications that are either created or signed by Ricoh. Or third-party applications that are signed by Ricoh after passing the corresponding verification tests that ensure no unauthorized actions take place in application.
Without a Ricoh signature, there is no way for an application to install itself on MFP, even if originates from an executable file from a peripheral device (USB stick, SD card). Furthermore, no data input or output is possible unless a USB device (camera, card reader) is provided with an application for data input or output. However, if such application is not signed by Ricoh, then application will not be able to run or install by itself.
This also apply for Web BrowserNX applications. A Ricoh signed token is required for a Web BrowserNX application to run on MFP. The production token can only be created by Ricoh.
