AAA Questions

Question
Gerardo
I have been through the presentation and the doc you sent me but would really benefit with a short discussion on implementing the AAA services.
There is no immediate rush but could you please let me know a few dates where you could spare an hour or so just to clarify a few questions I have.
Many thanks and best regards
Nick
SDK/J scanned image rotation
Incident Properties
Question
Hello,
In the SDK/J Xlet Type Developer's Guide for Scan document, it outlines the behavior of the ScanSides attribute (pg 21). It describes that images are rotated 90 degrees clockwise, and therefore SDK/J needs to rotate these -90 degrees counter clockwise, but that for OUTPUT_FILES.JPEG that not rotation is applied.
1.) When it states no rotation is applied, does that refer to the initlal 90 degree rotation, or to the -90 degrees correction done by ScanSides, or to the rest of the rotation done by the ScanSides attribute, or all of them?
2.) The Ricoh SDK/J scanning application generates TIFFs/JPEGs/PDFs in the correct orientation. In our scanning application TIFFs work correctly but not JPEG or TIFF. My test cases involve the document feeder, the page being places in portrait orientation (LEF with the left side of the document in the feeder) or landscape orientation (SEF with the top of the document in the feeder) and using ScanSides.LEFT_FEED_ONE_SIDED.
I have also repeated the same tests but with ScanSides.RIGHT_FEED_ONE_SIDED to see the impact. Attached are the outputed files and associated text files containing the scan attributes used to produce the scan job.
- JPEG is always rotated 90 degrees clockwise regardless of which ScanSides attribute is used.
- PDF is rotated 90 degrees clockwise when LEFT_FEED is used, but 90 degrees counterclockwise when RIGHT_FEED is used.
I cannot see any special handling for these type of files in the scan framework source code or documentation. If I want the user to place portraits always as LEF in the feeder and landscape always as SEF, is there a way to correctly set the job attributes so that the output file orientation is correct?
Regards,
Daniel.
Ricoh SDK/J - determine if device is wide format manual feed device
Incident Properties
Question
Hello,
In the sfw_wvga_framework_e302.pdf document (SDKJ scanning framework download from the tools -> frameworks section of your site), under section 13. Paper feed orientation, it discusses that the feed orientation setting between normal ADF devices and wide format devices differ. Is there a way to determine if the device is a wide format device that only has a manual feeder (without needing hardcode model names)? I am aware of the jpeg2000 compression support system property and only wide format devices have jpeg2000 compression support, is that sufficient to check?
Problem installing apps with Web Image Monitor
Incident Properties
Question
Hi,
One of our customers is reporting a strange issue on his MP C8002 running 11.32.04.
When trying to upload a solution with the MFP's Web Image Monitor (Extended Feature Settings -> Install), after the user selects a solutionxyz.zip file and clicks Display Extended Feature List, the web page displays an empty list in the Extended Feature List, so we can't install any applications. It does that with any solution we try to install, even RICOH's RXConfServet or RmLogSender apps.
Also, the Extended Feature Settings -> Administrative Tools page shows empty values for the Heap/Stack settings (see attached screenshot). It looks to me like the Java VM crashed.
Any idea what could be causing this? The customer contacted his Ricoh Tech Support and they are going to re-install the Java VM, but I'm concerned that this is going to happen again in the future.

Recommendation for 11.xx MFP
Incident Properties
Question
Hi,
We are thinking of purchasing a Ricoh 11.xx MFP for testing. Would you have a recommendation on which particular model we should buy?
I'm thinking in terms of which model would be the most popular among customers, but also which model would be the most different in terms of GW/GW+ architecture from the MP C401 (12.xx) we already have.

'ProximityCardIDCodeReader' class usage
Incident Properties
Question
Hello Gerardo,
Following your suggestion in the incident #1316 I'm trying to use 'ProximityCardIDCodeReader' class.
I couldn't find any sample utilizing it. Could you please provide a working sample application that can get an event of tapped RFID card on the RDR-80581AKU reader connected through the side USB on MP C401 and receive an actual card's keystroke value.
Thanks,
Mark D.
Exlet icon not appearing on the 7503 panel
Incident Properties
Question
Hi,
We are installing our software ROI embedded solution onto a MP 7503 so users can swipe their cards to authenticate and access the features.
When we push out the software to the device the ROI Login Icon does not appear on the panel. I have checked to make sure everything is on the device under extended features and also made sure that auto start option is selected when using the Ricoh Remote Tool.
Any idea why the icon does not appear or can you please test it on a 7503 and confirm if it's working or not?
Thanks,
