Premier Plus members have access to the full set of RiDP development tools which include:
- PCL Command Set
- PJL Command Set
- PostScript Local Operator
- Standard MIB Specification
- Private MIB Specification
- PC FAX API
- SmartDeviceMonitor API
- Device Browser
- Embedded Software Architecture SDK/J
These high-level SDKs allow Developers to create embedded applications which run on multifunction devices and printers. Detailed information on these SDKs is available in the Tools section. To support the advanced development needs of Premier Plus Members, Members are allowed unlimited e-mail support incidents from the RiDP Engineering team. They may also search through the RiDP Technical Q&A Database, or make use of technical resources such as white papers and available sample code. In order to shorten the time to market new applications, Premier Plus members are also, by invitation, given access to beta versions of SDKs. Members are also entitled to attend one session per year of classroom training on the Embedded Software Architecture SDK. Each company may enrol a maximum of 3 developers per class. Training will take place in West Caldwell, NJ. It is Ricoh’s objective to help Premier Plus Members achieve not only an efficient development cycle, but also a successful market launch of their products.
Current Support Provisions
- Developer Access – RiDP incident system is for use by Premier Plus level authorized developers (exclusive to coders only). Developer organization end user support personnel may not submit support incidents to RiDP. Business personnel may have limited access to the system, to allow for submission of Compatibility Testing documents, however, technical support incidents may not be submitted and will not be responded to if submitted by business account owners.
- Service Level Agreement – Ricoh Developer Support team will make commercially reasonable efforts to provide a response to authorized initial request within 2 business days upon receipt. Ricoh cannot guarantee successful resolution of any reported error, defect or problem.
- End User Related Questions – Each developer is responsible for supporting their own software at end user locations. Questions regarding solutions which have already passed testing will be accepted, however, questions must focus on Ricoh’s Software development tools. Analysis and resolution of end user issues, remains with the developer organization. At times, Ricoh may not be able to answer questions submitted by developer,
- Ricoh Hardware Settings and Firmware Updates– RiDP is not engaged with establishing Ricoh hardware settings or firmware updates. Ricoh field technicians are to be utilized in upgrading or downgrading firmware as needed. If the device is not under a maintenance contract, charges may occur. 3rd party developers are expected to know how to optimize their software on Ricoh hardware devices, to include all settings appropriate to optimize the running of their solution.
- Ricoh Software Product Support – RiDP specializes in providing technical support on Ricoh’s Software Developer Kits and API’s. Our team does not possess the expertise of Ricoh Software Created Products.
- Log Capturing – Developers are responsible for their own log capturing within the scope of their embedded applications. Ricoh device logs should only be captured by an authorized Ricoh technician or the developer. Ricoh may charge developer for a service call to obtain logs as this is not covered under end user maintenance contract. Logs may not be captured by the end user.
