What is the VMware submission process?

VMware Submission Process

The process of sending VMware images for testing will be discontinued in favor of a new process. To perform the compatibility test of solutions in RiDP Test environment, Ricoh will require developers to upload, install, configure and test the application server software onto a Windows based system remotely. In order for Ricoh to have on-site access to 3rd party back-end servers, developers will configure a server on a VMware image running at Ricoh.

Instructions for implementation of the VMware Submission Process:

1. Provide information on a Windows operating system that the solution back-end server supports.
   • The general Specs for each VMware image at Ricoh will be: 2x 3.4GHz CPU/4 GB memory/40 GB HHD/1G network
   • VMware images will be attached to a WORKGROUP and not a domain
   • IP Address of the VMware will change. (Please let us know if this would cause a licenses to be invalid)
2. Provide a download link with any server prerequisite executables that are required (we will download this onto the VMware image prior to step #3):
   • Java JRE
   • Apache
   • Browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
   • Etc

3. Setup a remote session for the developer to install and configure their back-end server on the VMware image at Ricoh. A RiDP support engineer will facilitate this remote session; however, it will be the sole responsibility of the developer to install, configure and test the server software components.
4. Once the developer completes step #3, the RiDP support engineer will proceed with installing the application client (Embedded solution, Web App) onto a local device in the RiDP Lab.
5. Lastly, the RiDP support engineer will confirm that the application client can connect and communicate with the backend server and will proceed with the Pretest. At this point the remote session will conclude.
