Ricoh Device Interfaces

PCL Command Set

This supplement describes the language specification of the Ricoh specific PCL (Printer Control Language), to assist in the development of programs that utilize it. PCL (Ricoh specific) is based on the Printer Control Language (PCL) of Hewlett Packard. In order to accommodate the unique functionality of Ricoh devices, some commands have been expanded.

PJL Command Set

This supplement describes the language specification of the Printer Job Control Language known as PJL (Ricoh specific), to aid in the development of programs that use it. PJL (Ricoh specific) is based on the Printer Job Language (PJL) of Hewlett Packard. Some of the commands have been extended to address the unique functionality of Ricoh devices.

Standard MIB Specification

Management Information Base (MIB) is a database related to network administration of connected print devices and has been implemented on Ricoh printers and multifunctional products. Normally, network-printing devices are referred to as agents and a network management application is called the manager. From the manager’s point of view, each print device is a separate resource or database of information managed via Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).

Private MIB Specification

This document describes the proprietary Ricoh private MIB (Management Information Base) implemented on Ricoh’s networked printers and multifunctional products. This information is exclusive to Ricoh networked devices and is not referenced in industry-recognized MIB standards.

PostScript Local Operator

This supplement describes the language specification of PostScript Level 3 needed to write programs for use with Ricoh printers and network connected multifunctional products. It describes in detail the changes and additions made to Adobe Systems Incorporated PostScript 3 specification. This will allow for a more productive use of Ricoh devices when utilizing the PostScript printing language.

PC Fax API

This API is used to initiate fax transmissions from within your own fax applications. The PC Fax API requires the LAN Fax Driver - found at www.ricoh-support.com/downloads - to be installed on the same computing device the fax application resides on. The PC Fax Driver API supports Windows 95/98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP operating system platforms.

SmartDeviceMonitor API

Ricoh’s proprietary networked peripheral management software utility - SmartDeviceMonitor - allows for the discovery, configuration and monitoring of Ricoh printers and multifunctional products. The SmartDeviceMonitor API allows other application programs to obtain status and other information about Ricoh peripheral devices on the network. The SmartDeviceMonitor API supports Windows 95/98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP operating system platforms. For details on SmartDeviceMonitor for Admin/Client, go to www.ricoh-usa.com/products.
